International Chessboxing

Last week I photographed four bouts of Chessboxing at London's Scala near Kings Cross. This was my sixth occasion photographing the action at London Chess Boxing club, it's always an event I look forward to, and I have the privilege of being ringside for the action. I'm particularly pleased with the 'Inkman' bout (bout 2) which has a very pleasing tone to it. From my vista I can feel the energy and atmosphere, sometimes quite literally, and I've had to dodge out of the way of boxers on the ropes on quite a few instances. I hope you'll enjoy my photographic account of the fights, my aim is to tell a story through them and depict this new sport in the way it deserves to be portrayed; a battle between mental agility and physical strength, resulting in an exciting and engaging sporting event

Occupy London Protests.

(Updated Page) An anti-capitalism protest movement which started in New York City has spread around the world this week; On Saturday protestors setup an activist camp in front of St Paul's cathedra, and this week they expanded the protest camp to Finsbury Square. I've been using my lunch breaks from work to go and photograph them.

Cityscape Sprocket

A new page showing my first photographs taken using a 35mm film camera which include the film sprocket holes. I'm passionate about photography, and not just the kind that involves expensive digital sensors and hi-tech bolts ons such as Geo-tagging and HDR. Photography for me is an artform and I'm really pleased with these first experimental pictures of mine using a very lo-fi camera (read more). The camera body exposes the entire 35mm role and takes two frames at a time. With only two focal length settings it's all about having fun and framing the subject. There's no battery, no digital readouts and you have to hand wind on the frames using an analogue indicator. I hope to experiment more with my newest camera and will try some E6 positive film next.
